Land Rover & Range Rover Mechanic & Repair in Scarborough
JLR factory diagnostic software, air suspension work, and mechanical and body repair in the same shop, at independent rates.
Land Rover Diagnostics With JLR Factory Software
We run JLR SDD and Pathfinder, the factory diagnostic software Land Rover and Jaguar dealers use. On these vehicles that is not a nicety, it is the difference between a diagnosis and a guess.
A Range Rover carries an unusual number of networked control modules for its size, and the faults owners actually experience tend to live in them: the air suspension controller, the body control modules, the transfer case and terrain response systems, the parking aids and cameras. A generic OBD-II scanner reads engine and emissions codes and stops well short of all of that.
The factory software reads JLR-specific fault codes rather than generic approximations, runs the manufacturer's own guided routines, and performs the calibrations and resets a repair requires afterwards. The same software covers Jaguar, so those cars are welcome here on the same basis.
Air Suspension, Honestly Diagnosed
Air suspension is the single most common expensive fault on these vehicles, and the one most often misdiagnosed by shops guessing at the most expensive component first.
- The vehicle sitting low on one corner after being parked overnight
- A suspension or ride-height warning message on the dash
- The compressor running longer or more often than it used to
- Height not adjusting, or the vehicle stuck at one setting
- A harsh, crashing ride that used to be smooth
The cause is usually a leaking air spring, a worn compressor, a ride-height sensor or a valve block, and which one it is makes a very large difference to the bill. We diagnose it with the factory software before recommending parts. There is more on the general principles on our suspension and steering repair page.
Common Land Rover and Range Rover Repairs
- Air suspension compressors, air springs, valve blocks and height sensors
- Oil leaks, cooling system faults and overheating
- Electrical and module faults, battery drain and no-starts
- Brakes, including wear sensors and electronic parking brakes
- Timing and engine work, diagnosed before parts are ordered
- Air conditioning and heating
- Body and collision repair with colour-matched paint
If your vehicle is showing a specific message on the dash, read it out when you call. JLR messages are far more specific than a generic warning light and often let us tell you over the phone whether it is safe to keep driving.
Why These Vehicles Punish the Wrong Workshop
Land Rovers and Range Rovers are not badly built, but they are dense. Systems are interlinked, a single failed module can produce a dashboard full of unrelated-looking warnings, and clearing codes without addressing the cause simply moves the problem. Shops without the factory software often replace parts in sequence until something works, and the owner pays for the whole sequence.
Because we also do body and collision repair in the same building, damage that affects cameras, parking sensors or ride-height components gets scanned and recalibrated as part of the same job rather than handed back with codes still stored.
Independent Rates, Factory-Level Tools
Once one of these is out of factory coverage, the running costs are what owners weigh. The usual worry about going independent is equipment, and the factory software is the answer to it. You get the diagnostic depth without a franchised dealership's overhead, and every job starts with a diagnosis and a clear estimate before any work begins.

What Land Rover Owners Say
“This is my go-to place for everything Range Rover and any import car you have. Jaan and his team are the most honest mechanics in the city, so helpful and will always do their best to save you on cost on parts and labour. My Range Rover has come back to life thanks to Jaan and his team.”
“I have had my Porsche 928 serviced here many times, and they checked a Range Rover that I recently purchased. The guys are very polite, thorough, punctual and extremely reasonable. They source parts, which are sometimes pretty hard to find. I would not hesitate to recommend them!”
Land Rover FAQ
Common Land Rover Questions
Do you have Land Rover factory diagnostic equipment?
Yes. We run JLR SDD and Pathfinder, the factory diagnostic software Land Rover and Jaguar dealers use. It reads JLR-specific fault codes across every module rather than the powertrain alone, runs the manufacturer’s guided routines, and performs the calibrations a repair needs afterwards.
Do you work on air suspension?
Yes, and it is some of the most common work we see on these vehicles. The cause is usually a leaking air spring, a worn compressor, a ride-height sensor or a valve block, and which one it is makes a large difference to the cost. We diagnose it properly rather than replacing the most expensive component and hoping.
Do you service Jaguar as well?
Yes. Jaguar and Land Rover share the same factory diagnostic software, so Jaguars are serviced here on the same basis. Call (416) 913-2394 with your model and year and we will confirm what we can read on your specific car.
Are you a Land Rover dealer or authorised centre?
No. We are an independent shop on Warden Ave. running since 2004, with a licensed 310S technician and JLR factory diagnostic software. We are not affiliated with or authorised by Land Rover or Jaguar.
